About ESL
We make recording accessible for students and artists who are just starting out — a warm, welcoming space, not a corporate one.
Thomas Wedel
Co-founder · Guitarist & producer
Co-founder of ESL, on a mission to make professional recording accessible to students and artists just starting out, in a Costa Rican scene where support is scarce. He's played guitar since age 12, has helped build two professional studios in addition to his own home studio, and has recorded and mastered full bands for over a decade, using both analog and digital gear.
Dieter Chaves
Co-founder · Educator & audiovisual producer
Guitarist, educator, audiovisual producer, and cultural manager — founder and director of Eureka Music Academy. He's produced and recorded national and international artists, and has supported Costa Rica's National Guitar Competition since 2022 and the Orfeo 2026 Lyrical Singing Competition. As a performer, he's played venues including Teatro Popular Mélico Salazar and the Auditorio Nacional.
